Tips and resources for locating Reno Real Estate before foreclosure
With all of the media buzz on the Reno real estate market that is experiencing bank foreclosures, I thought I'd provide a few tips on how to identify homes before they are foreclosed.
The foreclosure "Tip of the Iceberg"
The first step in a foreclosure process (after the owner stops making payments) is when the lender files a "notice of default" with Washoe county. This filing is required to be public and allows the Reno home owner to cure the default (get caught up on the payments) within 35 days. If the default is not cured, the bank will continue down the path of a public auction, and in 98% of the time, a full foreclosure.
