While this area is arid and you are elevated above the floor of the Carson Valley where the Carson River runs, you may be surprised to know that there are designated FEMA flood zones in Fish Springs. These areas defined by "run off" ditches or creeks and are generally dry but are prone to flood during a strong Summer rain in the Pinenut Mountain range. Basically, the water flow off of the Pinenut Mountains going West towards Carson Valley partially includes this area.
